Bernard is a successful, highly effective project manager, consultant and business systems analyst who delivers to time, quality and budget. He helps organisations achieve greater sustainability by realising the triple financial, environmental and social benefits of change in the application of Information Communications Technology (ICT).  He is an experienced Chartered Engineer (CEng.) who can apply a wealth of project management, quality, and systems modelling approaches to achieve results.

Background

Bernard has been an independent Consultant for the last 13 years and his company and associates provide a range of services that support clients in delivering change particularly in the area of process management and the application of ICT.

He has undertaken a range of assignments that have demonstrated his ability to deliver with certainty, save or make money for his clients and help them realise the full potential of their staff. His aim is to have a sustainable effect on improving his client’s capability and reducing their environmental impacts. Examples of recent projects are:

• Evaluation of the “triple bottom line” i.e. financial, social and environmental business case for web conferencing. Followed on by support for a public tendering and procurement process.
• Support for an SME’s adoption of an environmental management system, involving carbon footprinting, energy saving advice and preparing an environmental policy.
• Support for strategy definition, programme management and project definition for a local sustainability community enterprise.
• Various projects linked to the implementation of a large public sector e-learning application.

Prior to becoming independent Bernard spent 20 years in the ICT industry working for a number of public sector organisations, blue chip companies and service providers. He has worked in the UK and Europe.

Experience

Bernard can bring technical, social and environmental experience to bear in delivering sustainable benefits for his clients.

Technical. As a Chartered Engineer and a member of the British Computer Society, he can fulfil a range of roles including strategic consultancy, project management, quality management, business analysis and application design. Having worked for both user organisations and service companies, he understands the client/supplier approach to ICT delivery. He has experience in a number of business sectors including Education, Government, Financial Services, Transport and Manufacturing and is a PRINCE2 Practitioner. Over the last few years Bernard has undertaken a number of public sector e-learning assignments where he has focused on supplier and quality management.

Social. Bernard has a BA in Psychology and is an NLP Master Practitioner. He has consulted on the “softer” issues of the use of information technology and the management of the interface between technology and the business.

Environmental. Bernard has training in sustainable energy and is engaged in ongoing research into the role of ICT, in climate change and the low carbon economy. His background in systems analysis and whole systems thinking provides a toolset for Life Cycle Assessments and environmental impact analysis.
